President William Ruto is set to honour 184 distinguished individuals during this year's Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kitui County. Among them are veteran musician Jua Cali and Citizen TV journalist Mwanahamisi Hamadi, both celebrated for their remarkable contributions to Kenya's creative and media industries.

Mwanahamisi, a respected broadcaster, will be recognised for her efforts in championing women's empowerment through her renowned TV show Mwanamke Bomba. The programme highlights stories of women transforming their communities through innovation, entrepreneurship, and resilience.

In her reaction, Mwanahamisi expressed gratitude to God and appreciation for her colleagues at Citizen TV, saying the recognition symbolises collective effort. She explained that her show was inspired by the station's mission to amplify the voices of ordinary Kenyans, especially women often overlooked by mainstream narratives.

She added that profiling grassroots changemakers gives her pride and fulfilment, as their success stories inspire others across the country. "When a woman rises and uplifts others, it gives me joy to see that transformation," she remarked, reflecting on her decade-long media journey.

Jua Cali, one of Kenya's most influential musicians, will be honoured for shaping the nation's music landscape. As a pioneer of the genge sound, he has influenced generations of artists and helped define modern Kenyan urban music.

The award recognises his consistency, creativity, and commitment to mentoring emerging talent in the entertainment industry. Through his work, Jua Cali has demonstrated the role of music in fostering identity, cultural pride, and youth empowerment.

The National Heroes Council, guided by the Heroes Act of 2014, oversees the selection of honorees based on excellence, patriotism, and service to society. This recognition underscores Kenya's commitment to celebrating individuals whose dedication continues to uplift and inspire the nation's collective spirit.
