Senegal has won the Africa Cup of Nations in dramatic fashion.

Pape Gueye scored in extra time for the Teranga Lions to beat host Morocco 1-0 in a chaotic final on Sunday which at one point saw fans trying to storm the field and Senegal’s players walking off the pitch to protest a penalty decision deep into second-half stoppage time.

It appeared unclear if the game could continue as fans battled with stewards.

“We all saw what happened at the end of the match but we took the decision to come back onto the pitch and give everything,” Gueye said.

African football's governing body CAF, has imposed a 20,000 U.S. dollar fine and a four-game ban on Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) president Samuel Eto'o for allegedly misbehaving during his team's loss to Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal.

Eto’o was reportedly seen making an angry gesture over refereeing decisions in the presence of CAF President Patrice Motsepe.

Players from both sides also jostled each other, and CAF said on Sunday it had opened investigations into violent confrontations during AFCON matches.

Negotiations for the 25-year-old Ghana international have progressed significantly, with talks over the past two days focused on resolving the remaining details. City are understood to be confident that an agreement is close as the January transfer window prepares to open on Thursday.

Manchester United is seeking a new manager once again after Ruben Amorim was sacked following Sunday’s draw against Leeds. Appointed only 14 months ago to replace Erik ten Hag, Amorim’s departure follows a reported breakdown in communication with CEO Omar Berrada and the club’s top hierarchy. Despite delivering a mid-table position of sixth after 20 games, Amorim’s "fiery" post-match conduct proved to be the final straw for the United board.
